Choke & Kill Manifold
Choke Manifolds are indispensable equipments to prevent well kick and to regulate pressure in oil and gas wells.The well test choke manifold, located between the high pressure upstream equipment and the low pressure downstream equipment , is used to generate the required pressure drop for the separation equipment. In case the BOP is closed, by changing opening of the choke valves, the manifold can keep the casing pressure slightly higher than the strata pressure, so as to prevent strata fluids from flowing into the well, thus avoid oil pollution. A choke manifold consists of choke valves, gate valves, pipes, fittings, and pressure gauges. When pressure inside the well goes up, by adjusting opening of choke valves (which are manual actuated, hydro-actuated or fixed type), let out well fluids so as to reduce well pressure. In case the pressure is too high, gate valve should be opened to blow off the well fluids.
